Bahraini boy, 13, killed, another injured in horrific crash
A horrific crash killed a 13-year-old boy instantly in the Northern Governorate Sunday night. The mishap occurred while the boy, among a group of children, was parading on their bicycles around Diraz to celebrate Bahrain’s victory in the 24th Gulf Cup. Another child was also injured in the accident, confirmed the Interior Ministry in a statement. “The boy was on his bicycle when a car driven by a Bahraini, 19, rammed into him,” the statement said adding that legal measures are taken. The ministry didn’t reveal any further details. Eyewitness accounts say, the boy suffered a serious injury on his head and bled profusely on the scene of the accident.
“The paramedics arrived soon, but pronounced him dead on the spot,” an eyewitness said. The boy’s father, who arrived at the scene of the accident, had an emotional breakdown finding the fate of his son. The body was taken to the morgue in Salmaniya Medical Complex.
The General Directorate of Traffic called upon the public to obey the traffic rules and avoid hindering the traffic during the celebration of the sporting achievement.
