His Majesty pardons 269 inmates
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday issued decree 101 of 2019 pardoning 269 inmates, who were convicted in court cases.
In another related development, Public Prosecutor Dr Ali Al Bouainain announced that a group of 530 inmates who served half of their jail terms have been released from rehabilitation and reform centres after replacing their remaining sentences with non-custodial penalties.
The move follows directives issued by His Majesty to expand the enforcement of the law on alternative penalties and heed the inmates’ personal and family condition, taking into account humanitarian considerations.
