Google marks Bahrain National Day
Google yesterday marked Bahrain’s National Day with a doodle.
The doodle featured a Bahraini flag on its homepage. When clicked, the flag re-directed users to information, photos and videos of Bahrain and its National Day.
The occasion was also marked by the UN. A reception was held last week at the UN headquarters in New York by Bahrain’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
“This year’s celebrations coincide with many significant occasions, such as the 100th anniversary of the start of formal education in the Kingdom,” said Bahrain’s ambassador to the UN, Jamal Al Rowaiei.
He praised Bahraini woman’s advances in education and sciences. “Since the 1930s, Bahraini women have participated on an equal basis with men in municipal council elections. Women today hold 55 per cent of high positions in the country,” he said.
