Speed limit planned for fishing boats

A speed limit will soon be imposed on boats of fishermen and fishing enthusiasts, it emerged.  

Undersecretary of Agriculture and Marine Resources Agency at the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, Nabil Muhammad Abu Al Fath stated that the decision of imposing a speed limit is to ensure public safety.     

This came after a meeting held between Abu Al Fath and the Commander of the Coast Guard, Major General Alaa Abdullah Seyadi, and the Legal Affairs Commander Colonel Yusuf Al Subaie. The meeting concluded that more measures will be taken to improve the safety of boat travel. 

Meanwhile, the Southern Governorate approved a proposal to allocate land for the purpose of parking boats. It came after the fishermen complained that there is inadequate space for parking their boats and lack of docking facilities.

The proposal was submitted by councillor Oman Abdulrahman. He said that he has received several complaints from citizens about lack of parking spaces for the boats.
