Bahrain, Philippines mull stronger bilateral ties

The Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, yesterday hailed the Filipino community here for their constant support to the Kingdom’s development drive.

The Undersecretary also expressed her aspiration to convene the Joint Higher Commission between Bahrain and Philippines to develop bilateral cooperation between the two sides in various fields of mutual interest.

Dr Shaikha Rana was meeting the Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs of Philippines, Sarah Lou Arriola, who is on a three-day official visit to the Kingdom, in the Ministry’s General Court.

The Undersecretary affirmed Bahrain’s pride in acceding to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), which also reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen relations with ASEAN countries.

Dr Shaikha Rana expressed her appreciation of the efforts of the Embassy of the Philippines in strengthening bilateral relations at all levels. For her part, Sarah Lou Arriola expressed her appreciation for the support Kingdom offers to the Filipino community.

She also wished for the continuation of cooperation between the two countries to achieve common interests.
