Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway Expansion Project completed

Work on the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway Expansion Project has been completed.

The BD1.69 million-project is within plans to ease congestion and ensure the smooth flow of traffic at vital intersections, in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to improve the flow of traffic on the main road networks in the Kingdom.

Commenting, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, said that the project included adding a fourth lane starting from Salmabad intersection to Tubli intersection, in addition to developing a 2.5-km rainwater drainage network, improving lighting and providing all traffic safety requirements for road users.

He added that the project will contribute to increasing the capacity of the Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway from 6,000 vehicles per hour to 8,000.

The minister asserted that the project will serve drivers coming from Saudi Arabia, and visitors of commercial outlets and housing facilities, such as the citizens of Isa Town, Salmabad, Sehla, Tubli, A’ali, Sanad, Riffa and neighbouring regions.

Minister Khalaf affirmed that such projects aim to achieve the goals of the Economic Vision for Bahrain 2030, through the expansion of the road networks across the kingdom, adding that the transportation sector enjoys great care as it is closely related to the national economy and sustainable development whose achievement requires advanced road infrastructure.
