Two successful kidney transplants performed at SMC
Two kidney transplants were performed at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), ending the 2019 on a high note, SMC chief surgeon Dr Rani Al Agha.
In the first surgery, a daughter in her twenties donated a kidney to her elderly mother who is in her fifties, as a token of gratitude to end her suffering. A man in his forties has also extended a lifeline to his cousin who is his peer, donating a kidney to end his dialysis ordeal.
A Bahraini SMC medial team performed the surgeries, in cooperation with the Kidney Diseases and Transplant Unit Chaired by Dr Ali Al Aradi. Visiting Jordanian surgeons Dr Ma’amun Bashir and Dr Samer Al Jibuti attended.
The patients and the organ donors are in stable condition under medical observation at Salmaniya Hospital. They are expected to be discharge soon from the hospital after completing medical procedures.
