Kingdom to host 27th ‘Contemporary Zakat Issues’ Symposium

Bahrain is set to host the 27th  “Contemporary Zakat (Almsgiving) Issues” Symposium on January 8-10, under the patronage of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.

Organised by the Justice Ministry’s Zakat and Charity Fund, in co-operation with Kuwait’s Zakat House, the event will be attended by scholars and specialists from across the Islamic world.

The minister asserted that the Zakat and Charity Fund always welcomes cooperation with Zakat departments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, praising the awareness-raising and charitable role played by the Zakat House in Kuwait, as well as its effective contributions to achieving social solidarity and compassion.

He added that this is the third “Contemporary Zakat Issues” Symposium to be hosted by Bahrain after the 4th in 1994 and the 14th in 2005.

He pointed out that the 27th “Contemporary Zakat Issues” Symposium aims to encourage scientific and sharia research, contribute to preparing a new generation of specialised researchers, enrich the Islamic library with more books and researchers on Zakat issues and extending bridges of cooperation with financial institutions and zakat funds.
