Mexican chef Margarita Carrillo launches her book ‘Mexico: The Cookbook’ in Bahrain

Manama

Mexican Celebrity Chef and author Margarita Carrillo Arronte launched her book Mexico: The Cookbook in the Kingdom on Sunday at the Bahrain National Museum, attended by many diplomatic figures.

The book, claimed to be the first truly comprehensive Bible of authentic Mexican home cooking, features 700 recipes, covering the rich diversity and flavours of Mexican cuisine.

The launch ceremony was attended by BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, French Ambassador to Bahrain Bernard Régnauld-Fabre, Mexican Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Arturo Trejo and other dignitaries.

On the occasion, Shaikha Mai said, “There is no limit to linking cultures, people and traditions.  With the launch of this book, we will learn about the cooking habits of another part of the world.”

The Mexican Ambassador expressed happiness over launch of the book in   Bahrain, especially as it coincides with the celebration of Mexico’s National Day.

Margarita said she spent years gathering recipes from every region of her country, and it may be called an encyclopaedic take on Mexico’s cuisine.

A global ambassador of Mexican cuisine, Margarita has dedicated 30 years to researching, teaching, and cooking Mexican food - from snacks to desserts.

Beautifully illustrated with photographs, the book includes dishes such as Acapulco‐style ceviche, Barbacoa de Pollo from Hidalgo, classic Salsa Ranchera, and the ultimate Pastel Tres Leches, each with notes on recipe origins, ingredients, and techniques.
