Boy, 4, rescued from rainwater pit

A four-year-old boy was rescued from drowning in rainwater pit in Al Sayah area near Busaiteen yesterday.

The child’s relatives saw him in the rainwater pit and they rescued him, according to sources, which added that the child was taken to King Hamad Hospital.

According to the municipal representative, Waheed Al Mannai, the child’s father had previously requested the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning to bury these pits, which are a source of danger for the children of the region.

The municipal representative held the ministry responsible for any accident caused by these pits, which were established as a temporary alternative to connect the area to the rain drainage networks.

He pointed out that the 228 Complex is one of the most prestigious residential complexes, but the failure to connect these pits to rainwater drainage networks by the ministry has led to a fertile environment for mosquitoes and insects to breed, apart from setting traps for children to fall.
