Bahraini women’s legislative role lauded
Shura Council Chairman Ali Al Saleh underlined the key role played by Bahraini women in the council’s secretariat. He praised the great competence shown by women in the legislative field, lauding the resolutions issued by the council in this respect which affirmed protection of women’s rights and motivating them to develop and contribute to decision-making.
The Shura Council Chairman was speaking as he received yesterday Shura Council Secretary-General Chancellor Osama Ahmed Al Asfoor, Assistant Secretary General for Relations, Media and Research Affairs Dr Fawzia Al Jeeb, the Equal Opportunity Committee Chairperson, and members of the committee.
The Shura Council Chairman was presented with the annual report 2019 of the Equal Opportunities Committee which sheds light on the committee’s achievements and plans for 2020. Discussions also focused on participation of the Shura Council Secretariat General in the sixth edition of HRH Princess Sabeeka’s Award for Women Empowerment.
The Shura Council Chairman hailed the role of the Equal Opportunities Committee in activating the national model to integrate women’s needs in development and promote the principle of equal opportunities between both genders in various fields.
