KHUH opens new departments
Under the patronage of the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BNA), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, several new departments were opened yesterday at the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH), marking the BDF’s 52nd Anniversary.
The commander-in-chief deputised Defence Affairs Minister, Lieutenant-General Abdulla bin Hassan Al-Nuaimi, to attend the opening ceremony, in the presence of Health Minister, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh.
The minister unveiled the plaque, officially opening the new sections - the Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET-MRI) department and the Intensive Care Unit, in addition to the Smart Pharmacy - equipped with the latest and most advanced diagnostic and treatment devices.
Al-Nuaimi also inaugurated the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and was informed about the Solar Energy Project which will provide clean energy to the KHUH. The minister then visited the Bahrain Oncology Centre, where he opened a Cancer Research Centre, and a paediatric ward. The KHUH Commander, Major-General Dr Shaikh Salman bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, presented the minister with a commemorative gift.
