Public security officers club receives top honour
Public Security Officers’ Club has received accreditation as the first government health-promoting institution in the Kingdom as part of the “Manama Health City” programme by the World Health Organisation (WHO). “This accreditation strengthens the ‘Manama, a Healthy City’ programmes,” said Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa.
“The achievement is a motivation for those who wish to join the project,” Shaikh Hisham said, highlighting the cooperation and coordination with some entities in the Capital. Shaikh Hisham, as deputised by Interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received the certificate of accreditation from Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh at the ceremony attended by WHO experts and members of the Capital health cities committee.
The Manama Healthy City programme has multiple benefits in caring for the environment and enhancing public health in the capital thanks to its primary dependence on collective participatory action and directly targeting the Capital community and their environment.
“This is the very focus of our work and it is in line with the government’s orientation towards adopting development programmes and projects with an international character that contribute to promoting comprehensive development in various cities and villages of Bahrain,” said Shaikh Hisham. Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham congratulated the Interior Minister and expressed pride in the honour in light of the minister’s directives to develop the concept of a healthy work environment.
