Food security: UAE, Bahrain mull cooperation
The United Arab Emirates is interested in partnering with Bahrain in enhancing Kingdom’s efforts to achieving food security, said UAE’s Minister of Food Security. Expressing delight in the success of Bahrain in this regard, Mariam bint Saeed Hareb Al Mehiri said her country is interested in boosting Bahrain’s efforts in this direction.
The minister was visiting Hawrat Aali with the Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Esam bin Abdullah Khalaf. Al Mehiri discussed with Esam Khalaf on the importance of Hawrat Aali in achieving food security in Bahrain The Hawrat, Esam Khalaf told Al Mehiri, is receiving special government attention citing the assets the region possesses which contributes strongly to supporting the government’s strategy to achieve sustainable food security.
Esam Khalaf said, nineteen Bahraini farmers in Hawarat Aali had signed contracts to benefit from the plots of land there. “Several companies were also contributing from there to Bahrain’s food security efforts,” the minister added.
