Sports Day aimed at improving public health
Bahrain Sports Day is a national initiative aimed at improving public health, which all the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) directorates are committed to participating in, iGA Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed said.
As per the directives of the His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, a half workday was allocated to marking the occasion.
Al Qaed said that iGA’s participation in the event every year is in line with its efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the third goal, “Good Health and Wellbeing”.
Al Qaed’s statement was made during a Bahrain Sports Day programme organised by iGA for its employees.
The day is an opportunity for all members of the community, those working in both the public and private sectors, to participate in sports activities and learn about the importance of living healthy lifestyles. The iGA hopes that it will result in a better understanding of the different exercise options available and an increase in its employees’ participation in sports, leading to improvements to their overall health and wellbeing. Bahrain Sports Day is also an opportunity to strengthen bonds between team members.
All iGA’s employees participated in the programme, which took place at The Avenues Park walkway, and consisted of a range of activities, including walking, jogging, running, and rope pulling, among others, which were carried out under the supervision of professional trainers. Employees were also given healthy meals and beverages. To get the latest updates on Bahrain Sports Day activities, follow iGA’s various social media accounts under the handle
