Ministry of Health announces 6 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) arriving from Iran

The Ministry of Health has registered six new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), confirming a total of eight registered cases in the Kingdom so far. The cases were registered after two Bahraini citizens (one male and one female) and four Saudi nationals (four females) arrived at Bahrain International Airport from Iran via Dubai and were examined as part of the precautionary measures taken in light of the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The ministry outlined that all necessary tests were taken while the infected individuals were in a designated and isolated area at the Airport where the positive results for COVID-19 were confirmed. The ministry further outlined that the infected individuals had arrived in the Kingdom before the Civil Aviation Authority’s decision to suspend flights from Dubai International Airport for 48 hours. The ministry indicated that the infected individuals had arrived in Bahrain after a visit to Iran, highlighting that individuals who were accompanying them were also moved to isolation as a precautionary measure after testing negative for the virus.

The Ministry of Health stressed that all necessary measures are being taken to examine each passenger arriving from affected countries. They are transferred immediately for treatment if symptoms of the condition are found or confirmed following laboratory analyses. The ministry highlighted that a comprehensive medical protocol is being followed to combat COVID-19, which is in line with established international guidelines as set out by the Gulf Health Council (GHC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The ministry called upon all citizens and residents who are experiencing symptoms of COVID19 to isolate themselves, call ‪444, follow the instructions given by the medical team, and avoid close contact with others.
