HM King hails Bahrain’s historic achievements in Saudi World Cup

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa has today received at Al-Safriya Palace, in the presence of Personal Representative His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs (SCYS) Chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing High Authority Vice Chairman HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, who presented to HM the King the trophies they had won in the Saudi World Cup.

Port Lions, owned by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, won the 2100-metre-long race for open category in the Saudi World Cup, which was held yesterday in Riyadh under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. 

Dark Power, owned by HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, won the second race as part of the maiden Saudi World Cup.

HM the King congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa on the historic achievement which honoured the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Saudi World Cup, the richest in the history of horse races.

HM the King thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for supporting and encouraging the equestrian sport, which is considered a longstanding Saudi sport.

He commended the outstanding efforts exerted by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to support and develop the deep-rooted equestrian sport and encourage Bahraini jockeys, hailing their landmark achievements in continental and world events.

He appreciated the contributions of HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa in supporting this sport and enhancing its standing to attain its best levels.

HM the also congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa on the achievement of the Victorious Stable, that won HM the King’s Endurance Cup, which was held today, covering 160 kilometres.

HM the King wished all Bahraini jockeys success to achieve more honourable results for the Kingdom in the coming races and competitions.
