Isa triumphs in His Majesty’s Endurance Cup horserace

Victorious Team jockey Salman Isa has on Sunday claimed His Majesty’s Endurance Cup after winning the 160-kilometre race, which is sponsored by the Gulf Finance House (GFH). Under the patronage of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs (SCYS) Chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa presented the champion with the trophy.

The ceremony which was held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village was also attended by Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) Vice President, SCYS member HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance (BREEF) President HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa and GFH Capital Chairman Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, accompanied by Shaikh Ahmed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, has also honoured Al-Zaim Team Jockey Maiyouf Al-Romaihi and Victorious Jockey Othman Al-Awadhi, who finished second and third respectively. The Champion, Salman Isa, won the five-stage 160-kilometre race, clocking (6hrs, 59 minutes and 50 seconds), followed by second-placed Maiyouf Al-Romaihi, who covered the distance in 7 hours, while third-placed Othman Al-Awadhi clocked 7 hrs. and 5 seconds.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa paid tribute to HM the King, hailing royal care for the endurance sport, which achieved landmark strides in the prosperous era, pledged to spare no efforts to further develop the completion in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He extended his congratulations to the winning jockeys who claimed the top three spots in HM the King’s Festival endurance festival, commending the GFH for its support which contributed to the success of the festival. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa also honoured the equestrian sponsors and the youngest jockey, Mohammed Ahmed, from Muharraq Equestrian School. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his sons also honoured the autistic children on the success of the rehabilitation programme which was held jointly by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) and Al-Wafa Centre for Autistic Children. HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa also honoured the children who participated in the programme, as well as, the officials in charge of the programme and the trainer.
