TDT | Manama

Indian Cricketer Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan who is the only number 11 batsman from India to score a first class century, visited the Indian School Bahrain (ISB) and interacted with the students. He is the only first class cricketer to score a century in no 11 and no 1 batting positions. In the interactive session with the under 14 boys he said that a very solid defense was needed to become a good batsman. He also urged the students to develop cricket skills at young age, participating in all tournaments. ‘Do lots of workouts and strictly follow the instructions of the coaches’, he said. Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan appreciated the Indian School for the excellent hospitality and the students for their enthusiasm for cricketing skills.

Principal VR Palaniswamy, Vice-Principals and Physical Education teachers attended the interactive session. Vidyut played for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy. He has also played for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Vidyut was part of the 2000 Under-19 Cricket World Cup winning India national under-19 cricket team. The son of Venkataraman Sivaramakrishnan, the former Tamil Nadu opening batsman, Vidyut entered the record books in his second domestic season itself - his 122-ball 115 against Delhi in Chennai was the first century by a No.11 in Ranji Trophy history. Like Ravi Shastri did in his Test career, Vidyut moved up the order and eventually became an opener.
