The Ministry of Works completes 68% of the water park project

The Minister of Works, Municipal Affairs, and Urban Planning, His Excellency Eng. Isam bin Abdullah Khalaf, confirmed that 68% of the works of the second phase of the water park development have been completed, noting that 90% of the parking lots and 75% of the buildings have been completed. During the visit, which was accompanied by the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Engineer Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Municipal Services, Eng. Rawiya Al Mannai, Khalaf briefed the most important developments on the project, which is one of the most important service projects that the ministry is currently working on in the capital.
 
Minister Khalaf said, "The project is receiving special attention from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the country's King, the President of the Supreme Council for Women, who emphasized the preservation of the historical water park heritage."
 
He pointed out that the water park is a unique project because it has a long historical value in the memory of the people and visitors to the park, as the garden area is 6 hectares, and the park was designed to preserve the historical monuments of the park.  
 
Khalaf pointed out that the park has a number of historical elements and monuments that were preserved during the rehabilitation process, which included preserving the existing trees and replanting them, as the number of trees and palm trees reached about 559 trees and trees including 176 trees and 383 palm trees.

In order to preserve the green area and plant diversity, a number of trees were planted, as well as various trees suitable for local environmental conditions were cultivated, including local trees in which the Kingdom is known as neem, poinsiana and acacia, and fast and dense growth trees to shade walkways and seating areas.

Some of the flowering trees and aromatherapy trees, such as Indian jasmine, were added. The number of trees added was about 952 trees and palm trees, an increase of 170% of the total number of trees before the rehabilitation of the garden.

The water park project is one of the important recreational projects, as the park will serve all citizens and residents, noting that this project comes within the Ministry's strategy to increase the green area in the Kingdom.
 
The Minister Khalaf emphasized the rehabilitation of the park, provided that the lakes and the overall shape of the park are preserved, represented by the existing walkways, water bodies and perennial trees.

He explained that the ministry seeks to develop the aesthetic aspects of the garden from planting green spaces, lighting and corridors in a modern way, in addition to providing breaks and services that are commensurate with the park’s status and in a way that serves the largest segment of citizens and residents, developing agricultural and plant aspects and providing all the ingredients to be a typical family garden and a place to attract tourists and visitors to the Kingdom .

The park is divided into family spaces, children's play areas, a wooden bridge, a sports area, and a number of green grassy spaces with a number of service buildings to serve the park goers.
 
Minister Issam Khalaf added that there is a botanical garden of various varieties, types and plant species represented in flowering plants such as roses, medicinal herbs, climbing plants, succulent and spiny plants in addition to shrubs, trees, palms and other various local plants. The garden was designed in a modern way using distinct lighting units, floors Various benches, parasols, wood and others.
