Seizing more products related to the Hamala warehouse case

Within the framework of the strict follow-up of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism regarding the expired products that were seized in the Hamala warehouse, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Ashraf, Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources at the Ministry, stated that a quantity of products was revealed in another warehouse in the Capital Governorate Their number exceeds 13,000 containers belonging to one of those involved in the deadline warehouse case, and bear the same brands that were seized in it.
He added, that the seized products had been deposited by the owner in one of the warehouses that are rented, and left in the warehouse since March 2019 without asking about them, and the warehouse management has excluded a large amount of three classes of products that have expired and taken care of them outside the warehouse, and keep the rest of the products That carry valid dates within the warehouse in accordance with the appropriate health conditions. However, there is doubt about the reliability of these dates, as is the case in the Hamala warehouse, as it was revealed through inspectors of the Ministry's Inspection Department that after one of the (pickled cucumbers) packages was opened - which is the most in quantity exceeding 600 containers of large size - a clear case of mold was observed. In addition, it is full of insects, adding that the date placed on the packaging ends in 2021, which calls into question the reliability of all dates on the rest of the products.
Regarding the quality of the products in the warehouse, the Assistant Supervisor of Resources and Resources pointed out that they are multiple, such as coconut powder, mayonnaise, ketchup and other foodstuffs. There is coordination with the Public Prosecution regarding the products that are seized and taken upon to be dealt with according to their controls.
And the supervision continued that through the determined efforts of the Ministry's Inspection Department to track the finished products, it also reveals the existence of new sites for commercial stores where some of the products in question are sold, and through inspections, the results came by monitoring about 20 packages of different food products in two stores. In the area of Manama, they have all been seized and work is underway to take legal measures in this regard.
The Assistant Undersecretary of Control and Resources stressed the need for the owners of the various shops to fulfill their responsibility to investigate and verify the sources of the goods that are provided to them and the validity of their dates and safety, especially for food products, and the importance of the purchase invoices bearing the accurate description of the supply side as well as the accurate description of the product, and dealing with licensed stores To practice the activity, and not to deal with individuals who do not have commercial records, stressing that the Ministry will apply the strict procedures for those who neglect his responsibility in accordance with the laws and procedures in place to preserve public safety and the continued enjoyment of the Bahrain market I have a reputation for not having seen such issues before.
Al-Ashraf concluded his statement that the Ministry is continuing to intensify its inspection campaigns to provide a fair and stimulating environment for sound trade, calling also for consumer cooperation to submit their complaints by calling the Ministry's Communications Center at 80001700 or through the national system for proposals and complaints "tawasul" or any of the available communication channels At the ministry.
