Man steals BD200 at knifepoint

The First High Criminal Court has adjourned the trial of a man accused of stealing BD200 at knifepoint from a cold store to Monday. The incident took place last January at Exhibition Avenue in the Capital Governorate was reported to the Hoora Police station. CCTV footages from the shop surveillance camera led to identifying and arresting the suspect who managed to steal around BD200 from the shop’s cash register. During the investigation, the shopkeeper, an Asian national, recounted the terrifying ordeal to the police.

He said, on that day, a masked man, wielding a knife in his hand, walked into the shop demanding to hand over all the money in the cash register. The victim said, out of fear for his life, he soon handed over the 200 Bahraini dinars that were there in the register. Police kicked off an investigation based on shop keeper’s account and footages from the surveillance camera. The suspect was arrested soon and handed over to Public Prosecution for further action. The prosecution charged the suspect of stealing at knifepoint on 28 January 2020.
