Stimulus will maintain economic growth: Industry Minister

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani yes- terday commended the royal directives to unify the national efforts to handle the repercus- sions of the global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

“This will contribute to en- suring the safety of people,” the minister said highlighting the announcement of an economic and financial package worth BD 4.3 billion.

The package launched as per the decision of His Roy- al Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and HRH Prince Sal- man bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme  Commander and First Deputy Premier aims at providing the needed liquidity for the private sector.

The minister affirmed that the directives will contribute enormously to preserving sus- tainable growth, praising the decision to exempt the industri- al and commercial companies from the fees on renting the government’s industrial lands for April, May and June 2020.

He also hailed a decision to exempt tourism facilities from tourism fees for three months this year, pointing out that the decision will greatly contribute to alleviating the financial bur- den on the commercial, indus- trial and tourism sectors.

The minister underscored the ministry’s support to the national efforts to maintain sustainable economic growth amid the current global circum- stances.
