Contact tracing app ‘BeAware’ launched
TDT | Manama
Bahrain’s health authorities have launched a new app ‘BeAware’ to provide advance contact tracing services and raise awareness about active virus cases here. The app is designed to provide users with COVID-19 updates, locations of active cases here and accurate contact tracing data by the Ministry of Health. ‘BeAware’ identifies and alerts users while approaching an active virus carrier or a location, where an active virus carrier has visited or went through. All information provided by the app will remain confidential to ensure privacy.
People are free to download the app or turn on location services entirely by choice, the authority said. Contact tracing is an internationally recommended method of safeguarding public health. The Government has urged all citizens and residents to download the app to protect themselves and their families as well as to support national efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. The app will soon be released to the public and will be available to download free of charge on iOS and Android from apps.bahraih.bh.
