Ministry shuts down 10 restaurants for violating government directives

TDT | Manama

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism announced yesterday the closure of 10 restaurants that have violated government directives limiting their services as part of nation-wide efforts to contain the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources Abdulaziz Al Ashraf said that these establishments were shut down after members of the public were seen dining in their facilities. Bahrain last week introduced several new measures to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus.

One of the directives was for restaurants to limit their services to deliveries and takeaways. The closures included four restaurants in Muharraq, while the others were in Manama and Jid Ali. Inspections are still taking place in all governorates across the Kingdom.

Al Ashraf noted the importance of restaurants to adhere to the decisions taken in battling the coronavirus pandemic, and called on the public to report any establishments violating these directives.
