Bahrain TV Channel 2 (Sports Channel) will today start airing audiovisual lessons to provide remote learning to students, said the Ministry of Information Affairs yesterday. The initiative is in line with the decision which was taken during the regular weekly Cabinet session, dated March 16, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
Assistant Undersecretary for Radio and TV Abdulla Khalid Al Nassar stressed complete readiness to implement the remote learning project in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Information Affairs has provided four TV studios to produce and record the lessons in record time, on three different shifts per day, with more than 50 technicians and engineers participating in each shift.
The Creativity and Electronic Media Department was tasked with overseeing this project, in cooperation with the TV and News Department. More than 145 lessons have been already recorded for students so far and work is continuing to record the rest of the audiovisual lessons and air them on the Bahrain 2 Sports Channel in addition to uploading them on social media to optimise students’ benefit.
Al Nassar stressed the national responsibility of the Ministry of Information Affairs to spread knowledge and provide an appropriate platform to compensate students for the time of schooling resulting from the suspension of classes in public schools.
“The Ministry of Information Affairs harnessed all its human and technical capabilities to ensure that the project succeeds and benefit students, in light of the challenges the world is going through with the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19)”, he said.
