A 51-year-old Bahraini woman died of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Health announced yesterday. Her passing marked the second death in Bahrain because of complications caused by the virus. The woman had underlying diseases and health conditions and was one of the existing cases in the Kingdom. She had undergone treatment and care in one of the isolation centres under the supervision of a specialised medical team after her return from Iran to Bahrain as one of a group of evacuees.

The Health Ministry expressed their sincere condolences to the family of the deceased. The Ministry indicated that the deceased had received treatment and care around the clock, and all necessary measures were taken in order to make a recovery. The Ministry stated that the health conditions of other existing cases are currently stable, except for three cases that are critical. All patients are subject to treatment and care in accordance with medical protocols and international guidelines adopted from the World Health Organisation. There are 183 active COVID-19 cases. A total of 149 cases have been treated and discharged, and 250 individuals have left quarantines.
