Shura Council Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee Chairman Her Excellency Dalal Jassim Al Zayed expressed pride and appreciation for the success of the first remote meeting with Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa.

The meeting also involved committee members, Justice Affairs undersecretary Counselor Wael Boualay, and a number of the ministry’s advisors. They examined Decree Law No. (21) for the year 2019, amending some provisions of the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law issued by Decree Law No. (12) of 1971AD.

Al Zayed praised the keenness of Shaikh Khalid and his continuous cooperation with the committee, appreciating the coordination between the Department of Information Technology and Communications in the General Secretariat of the Shura Council and the ministry.

Al Zayed pointed out that these types of meetings that use stateof-the-art technologies and direct broadcasting allows ministers and government officials to participate in committee meetings in the legislative authority and in a way that does not interfere with the conduct and performance of their duties.

Al Zayed indicated that Shaikh Khalid provided clarifications on the said decree, the positive impact expected by activating it in reality, and its effect on the speedy completion of commercial cases and civil suits.

Al Zayed added that the decree aims to create a new path for the consideration of electronic claims and electronic reporting, especially in cases of telecommunications companies whereby the lawsuits are fully managed electronically.

Al Zayed pointed out that the aforementioned decree reflects the development witnessed by the justice system in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Meanwhile, the Shura Council conducted a medical examination for all its members yesterday.

This was done within the framework of precautionary measures to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), under the guidance of Shura Council president Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, and under the supervision of the council’s secretary general Osama Ahmed Al Asfour, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Health.

The tests were done prior to the meeting of the Council yesterday, which was held for only an hour in light of measures being taken to prevent the further spread of coronavirus.
