The Ministry of Health announced 31 positive cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) last night amongst expatriate workers in Salmabad. The workers were already under precautionary quarantine at their residence after the detection of an existing case at their same location.

The Health Ministry said that after their test results confirmed they were infected, the workers were immediately transferred to isolation and treatment centres while taking all precautionary measures.

The Ministry added that the group of workers did not leave quarantine during their time there and stressed that there is no spread of the virus amongst expatriate communities.

Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi national tested positive for COVID-19 after taking part in random testing currently being done across the Kingdom. Contact tracing confirmed that 15 other individuals who were living in the same building as the 36-year-old are now active cases.

Contact tracing is ongoing with these cases. The total number of active cases as of last night went up to 294, with four being critical. The total number of recovered cases reached 458, with a total number of tested being 47,684.
