TDT | Manama

Tamkeen yesterday announced launching a Business Continuity Support Programme on Sunday aimed at cushioning enterprises here from the economic pain of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

All affected small and micro enterprises in the Kingdom with an active CR or a valid licence are eligible to receive the financial grants to help continue their operations as part of a stimulus package announced earlier by the government.

The programme will start accepting applications starting Sunday, said Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Labour Fund Tamkeen. Evaluation of applications will occur in two-weeks time.

Sunday’s launch forms part of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Royal Directives to unite national efforts to combat the Coronavirus outbreak while continuing the country’s programmes and sustainable development goals.

Besides, the stimulus follows a government’s decisions led by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and supported by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

The package also falls in line with Tamkeen’s ongoing national efforts to support the private sector, alongside other Ministries and Public Authorities. Tamkeen, Shaikh Mohammed said, will strengthen efforts to support the private sector and especially the adversely affected enterprises will be given priority
