The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) affirmed yesterday that the Kingdom of Bahrain has taken all preemptive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). This has been achieved while taking into consideration human rights, like the right to health and privacy, the institution added.
This came as the institution’s committee started field visits to the isolation, quarantine and treatment centres. It pointed out the Kingdom’s commitment to transparency and clarity in disclosing information, thus continuing to promote its regional and international status in respecting human rights.
During the field visits and in line with its monitoring role stipulated in the law of its establishment, NIHR officials met the medical teams and some of the quarantined people to get informed about the adherence to human rights in such circumstances, in tune with the precautionary measures set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The NIHR added its committee will continue its field visits at different locations and meet relevant parties to ascertain the implementation of appropriate measures, and provide health and psychological consultancy to the isolated and quarantined people in a way that is consistent with human rights.
