Capital Governor holds meeting for temporary shelters
TDT | Manama
Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa held a coordination meeting yesterday to discuss the mechanisms of transferring expatriate labour workers to temporary shelters at government schools.
The move is a precautionary measure within the national efforts to reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, and it is in line with the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The Capital Governor conducted the meeting alongside the deputy governor, the director-general of the provincial police directorate, and a number of governorate and directorate officials.
The Capital Governor affirmed his keenness to cooperate and coordinate with the relevant authorities to enact the plan and thus help reduce the overcrowding of foreign labour workers in their areas of residence.
He ensured that the process of accommodating them in public schools within the governorate is being done in full compliance with precautionary steps, for both the health and safety of the workers and the local community. The Capital Governor added that all things necessary for the temporary shelters will be provided.
