Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world’s largest aluminium smelter ex-China, continued its winning streak with the 2020 Gold Medal Health and Safety Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the seventh year in a row.
Internationally-renowned RoSPA honoured Alba for its health and safety performance during the period of January 1 to December 31 last year. Commenting on this occasion, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali said: “Alba is pleased to be recognised with this international acclaim from RoSPA, which speaks volumes about our consistent and high performance in safety and health.
“I thank our employees and our contractors for their unwavering commitment to ‘Think Safety First and Always’ that has made this achievement possible. “Alongside being the world’s largest smelter ex-China, we also want to be recognised as the world’s safest smelter and will constantly look to improve our safety practices as we evolve.”
The RoSPA is a UK-based organisation whose safety awards have been recognising health and safety success for over 50 years. Alba will be awarded at the 2020 RoSPA Health and Safety Award ceremony, which will be held on September 8 later this year in London.
