Dr. Al-Zayani chairs first Foreign Affairs Ministry's Council meeting

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani chaired the first meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Council virtually, with the participation of the members of the Council.

The minister expressed delight at the issuance of the edict to establish the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Council, which represents one of the important initiatives in the process of development and enhancement of the diplomatic work through the tasks, duties and responsibilities assigned to it, including approving policies and executive plans, supervising the progress of work and performance in the Ministry’s general court and the diplomatic missions abroad, in addition to examining the developments of the political and security issues at the regional and international levels, as well as the reports of diplomatic missions, and the permanent committees and taking appropriate decisions on them.

Dr Al-Zayani affirmed that the ultimate goal of forming the Council is to engage everyone in the decision-making process, as well as exchange views and ideas, study and discuss development initiatives, plans and projects collectively, to enhance the chances of success and attain outstanding achievements.

He expressed his appreciation of and pride in the tangible efforts made by the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s senior officials, most notably undersecretaries, assistant undersecretaries, directors, employees, ambassadors diplomats, in enhancing the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the pioneering development process and the civilisational renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom during this prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He also praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ directorates’ dedicated efforts, efficiency and competence during these exceptional conditions imposed by the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the world, hailing the on-going coordination and cooperation among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus and Bahrain’s embassies and consulates abroad in arranging the return of Bahraini citizens abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Council discussed a number of topics and issues on its agenda and took appropriate decisions regarding them.
