The coronavirus outbreak is bringing nations all over the world to their knees. It is affecting us all. Leading this fight from the frontline are our doctors and nurses, who are the real heroes. However, apart from them, we have also other heroes who are going the extra mile to help. Khaled Mohammed Yassin, a Bahraini child who donated his entire savings to the ‘Feena Khair’ campaign launched by Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), is one amongst them.

The heartwarming story of the little boy was reported by Al Ayam. Though at first surprised at seeing Yassin counting his savings, his mother told Al Ayam that knowing her son’s real intention made her “happier, motivated, and encouraged”. Little Yassin altogether donated 38 dinars, which he had collected over a long period, to the campaign launched by RHF.

The boy’s mother thanked HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for this kind initiative that is encouraging the act of charity and cultivates in the hearts of children and youth the spirit of responsibility and social contribution. Separately, Al Ayam reported that Batelco board has decided to provide a BD3.5 million support to the national campaign. The funds are going towards Bahrain’s government’s effort to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

According to Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, RHF Secretary-General, the ‘Feena Khair’ campaign was launched in response to growing requests from individuals and entities across the private sector that wish to make monetary contributions to national efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus. RHF is accepting donations via its website, accessible at http://www.rco.gov.bh.
