A hundred more active COVID-19 cases, total now 1,112

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday that it has registered 100 new active cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Bahrain. Of these, 78 were expatriate workers, 20 were contacts of active cases and two were Bahrainis who were among those repatriated from Iran.

The Health Ministry assured, in coordination with local business owners, the transfer of the 78 expatriates to treatment centres, while the contacts of those cases have also already been tested and quarantined. The total number of active cases in Bahrain was 1,112 as of last night, of which two were critical. The total number of patients discharged from dedicated treatment facilities increased to 762.

The Health Ministry’s mobile testing units continue to randomly test citizens and residents throughout the Kingdom. More than 2,565 tests were conducted during a period of 24 hours alone yesterday in order to detect cases early and provide the necessary treatment Meanwhile, the Ministry said that a Gulf Air-operated flight, part of Bahrain’s International COVID-19 Repatriation Programme, arrived yesterday from Iran.
