Asian woman assaulted, robbed by seven men at her home

TDT | Manama

An Asian woman was attacked and robbed by seven men at her residence in the Capital Governorate last month, it has been revealed. The woman was apparently kicked, punched and tied with ropes at her residence, before gold and cash worth more than BD700 were stolen from her by seven Asian men.

This was revealed yesterday in the trial of the seven thieves, of whom five were illegal residents, before the Fourth High Criminal Court, which adjourned the case to Thursday, so the defendants could be brought from their detention place.

The details of the case showed that the incident was reported by the victim to Hoora Police Station on March 13. The victim informed the police that she heard someone knocking on her door at around 6 pm, and when she opened the door, she was surprised to see seven Asian men.

The victim alleged in her statements that the men assaulted her at once, explaining that she was punched and kicked, and later tied with ropes. The woman also claimed that the assailants stole a golden bangle, three rings, and a necklace worth BD650, in addition to stealing BD60 cash and two mobile phones before fleeing the place.

Police investigations led to the identification and arrest of some of the suspects, who led the cops to the rest. The arrestees all confessed that they were called by the first suspect, who promised them to have sexual intercourse with the victim. All defendants were charged by the Public Prosecution with theft and assault, while five of them were also charged with illegal residency.
