The Lower Criminal Court imposed fines ranging from BD1,000 to BD5,000 on eight convicts accused of disobeying preemptive health measures to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Public Prosecution received notifications from the Public Health Directorate on violations of home quarantine imposed on seven people, who were contacts of active COVID-19 cases.
During follow-up, it was found that they violated self-confinement and left their homes on different dates. A female beauty salon worker was also accused of infringing a ministerial decision to close such businesses by providing services at home. The Public Prosecution launched an investigation, questioned the defendants and ordered their release on bail. They were referred to the Lower Criminal Court which issued its afore-mentioned verdict.
