The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF), working under the patronage of the Embassy of India, has been reaching out to distressed members in the community in many different ways ever since it launched its special initiatives in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
Distribution of ICRF Food Support Kits has been one such initiative. These kits contain basic food items such as rice (5kg), dal lentils (1kg), green mung lentil (1kg), chili powder (500gm), coriander powder (500gm), wheat aatta (5kg), salt (1 bottle), tea (250gm), cooking oil (750ml), black chena lentil (1kg), sugar (1kg), eggs (12 pieces), longlife milk (2ltr), and much more. More than 450 kits have so far been distributed to benefit nearly 2,000 members of the Indian community, with each sufficient for approximately two weeks.
The aim of ICRF is to feed the unfortunate workers and their families who have been most affected by the current situation. A special team has been designated, selected from various states of India, who are at the forefront to address the needs of the community. The team is headed by Adv. V K Thomas as convener, and members Pankaj Malik, Zulfikar Ali, Nasser Manjeri, J S Gill, Satyendra Kumar, Clifford Correa, Shivakumar D V, and Muralikrishna. They facilitate the requests received by ICRF.
ICRF chairman Aruldas Thomas expressed his appreciation to all well-wishers, including business entities such as Al Tawfeek Group, Megamart, Kavalani, Damani, Zubi and Partners, and other organisations as well as kind-hearted individuals who have come forward to extend their support financially and in kind to ICRF, in their efforts to reach out to the needy.
