Family Reconciliation Office starts providing online services

TDT | Manama

The Family Reconciliation Office at the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments have started providing online services for Bahraini families. The ministry and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) earlier this month agreed on automating all the office’s procedures to ensure the continuation of its services online.

The services will soon be added to the “Mutakatefeen” (In solidarity) application, recently launched by SCW to enable families to benefit from the office’s services. “The automation of the Family Reconciliation Office is based on the keenness of the two parties, the Ministry and the Council, on the importance of continuing the services provided to Bahraini families aimed at achieving its stability,” Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa said.

“This is very important in light of the current circumstances that require the containment of social repercussions in order to mitigate risks to families.” This cooperation between the SCW and the Ministry came in the context of the initiatives by the judicial and justice system in Bahrain to carry out most of its operations electronically and provide its services online, and thus facilitate procedures for the litigants and ensure their continued access to justice, Shaikh Khalid added.

SCW secretary-general Hala Al Ansari said that the SCW, through this procedure, continues its efforts to follow up the implementation of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2019-2022), specifically family stability.

“This includes the initiative to develop and improve the services of family reconciliation offices by resolving family disputes amicably and their differences by mutual consent,” she said.

The automation of the office’s services will contribute to developing and diversifying the recently announced “Your Councilor from a Distance” programme, which provides a host of services such as family and legal and economic counselling for Bahraini women, within the “Together for the safety of Bahrain” campaign.

The programme was launched by the SCW in March to contribute to strengthening joint action amongst various segments of society, within the Team Bahrain spirit and assist women as family breadwinners in order to ensure urgent needs are fulfilled and psychological, social and economic stability are secured as Bahrain confronts the crisis.
