New committee to supervise ‘Feena Khair’ campaign funds: Dr Al Sayed

A new committee will be formed to coordinate the efforts of the national campaign ‘Feena Khair’ aimed at supporting those affected by the virus outbreak, a top Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) official said. 

The campaign has received more than BD37 million, or about US$100 million contributions between April 12 and 30. Dr Mustafa al-Sayed AlAmeen, Secretary-General of RHF, said the new committee formed will work in coordination with various ministries and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.

The campaign supports the national efforts, to address the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, First Deputy Prime Minister.

Feena Khair, which translates to ‘There’s Good in Us’ in English was set up by His Highness Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Foundation for Humanitarian Action.

The campaign, Dr Al Sayed said, presented a distinct model of community giving and cohesion for the nation in addressing the Coronavirus challenges. Explaining the roles of the committee, Dr Al Sayed said the committee will follow up the disbursement of subsidy amounts as per set criteria and will oversee the registration of eligible groups.

A website, as well as a hotline, will be launched for this purpose. The committee will supervise the distribution of funds, submit periodic reports, create appropriate plans and implement medical guidelines during aid distribution.

“Feena Khair” funds, Dr Al Sayed said, will also be used for distributing daily breakfasts, procurement coupons and masks to productive families. Besides, the fund will support the efforts of the General Administration of Civil Defence for sterilisation operations, disinfection, and provision of computers for needy.

The committee will work in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry Labor and Social Development, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority
