Dr Al Sayyed at the helm of ‘Feena Khair’ committee

Royal Humanitarian Federation (RHF) Secretary-General Dr Mustafa al-Sayyed will oversee the functioning of a committee established to ensure the proper disbursement of “Feena Khair” funds.

The campaign has collected more than BD 37 million (US$100 million) in donations from over 40,000 individuals and 500 companies. The appointment was announced by HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Royal Humanitarian Federation (RHF)Board of Trustees Chairman.

The committee was set up to follow-up and distribute the donations collected. The move followed the decision of the Executive Committee, chaired by HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, tasking RHF to set up a coordination committee to follow-up the disbursement of donations.

The committee features officials representing the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, the Ministry of Health and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.

Explaining the roles of the committee, Dr Al Sayyed said the committee will follow up the disbursement of subsidy amounts as per set criteria and will oversee the registration of eligible groups.

A website, as well as a hotline, will be launched for the purpose The committee will supervise the distribution of funds, submit periodic reports, create appropriate plans and implement medical guidelines for aid distribution.

“Fina Khair” funds, Dr Al Sayyed said, will also be used for distributing daily breakfasts, procurement coupons and masks for productive families. Besides, the fund will support the efforts of the General Administration of Civil Defence for sterilisation operations, disinfection, and providing computers to the needy.
