The General Administration of Civil Defence has carried out over 19,000 disinfection operations this year, from 26 February to 1 May, as part of precautionary measures against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The months’ long operation resulted in disinfecting thousands of buildings, offices and companies in the Kingdom’s private and public sector, said the Director-General of the General Administration of Civil Defence.
The authority disinfected a total of 3546 outlets, 623 virus isolation facilities, 651 buildings and private companies, 1203 vehicles and 2763 other facilities. In government buildings, the authority carried out more than 9000 purging operations.
For private institutions and civil society members, the authority conducted 276 courses explaining various types of cleansing operations. The authority said it trained 840 people and 3587 volunteers and established certified teams to carry out professional cleaning operations in the Kingdom.
The authority broadcast lectures with interactive visuals on disinfection procedures, protective clothing and solutions and the method of mixing it and using it to perform preventive disinfection in homes and workplaces with the participation of 300 people.
The Director-General pointed out that all these measures had a significant impact on decreasing the number of regular communications received by the Civil Defence Operations Room, which reported a 31pc decline to 4350 during April, compared to the same month a year ago.
