Bahraini coast guard officers arrested three people for flouting a six-month ban in place on fishing and sale of shrimps in the territorial waters of the Kingdom. The Coast Guard commander said the patrolling team managed to catch the men, both Bahrainis and Asians, with about 150 kg of shrimps.
Legal measures are taken to refer the case to Public Prosecution. According to a ministerial decision, the ban came into effect in Bahrain from February 1 will continue until July 31.
The decision, according to the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Esam Khalaf, is to preserve marine wealth and to achieve sustainable development of marine resources.
