Charitable efforts stepped up

More than 50,000 meals a day have been given out to expatriate workers across the Kingdom’s governorates in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, it has emerged.
The distribution has been carried out by Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the governorates and their police directorates, along with the participation of a number of volunteers.
It is in coordination with the “Feena Khair” national campaign, launched by His Majesty the King’s Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs representative, National Security Advisor and Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) Board of Trustees chairman His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Southern Governor HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa praised the distribution efforts, which he said reflects a national sense of cohesion and pioneering community work.
In the same context, Muharraq Governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai thanked His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for his great efforts in leading the fight against COVID-19.
He added that the Muharraq Governorate has allocated 12 points for the distribution of meals to the expatriate workers, according to population density and the workers’ accommodations.
The Muharraq Governor expressed his thanks to the volunteers for their service, especially during such a challenging time in dealing with the pandemic. For his part, Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa praised the “Feena Khair” initiative, stressing that the campaign has a prominent role in promoting social solidarity.
He added that it affirms the love of the Bahraini people for their country, praising the efforts of all those who contributed to the campaign. Shaikh Hisham said that the governorate, in cooperation with its police directorate and in coordination with seven civil and charitable societies, has been delivering meals at five points, three of which are in the Manama market and a point each in Adliya and Hoora.
He added that what has been achieved since the launch of the “Feena Khair” campaign is a source of pride, as everyone has been working in the spirit of one team to deliver basic food supplies to the needy.
Northern Governor Ali bin Shaikh Al Asfour said that the “Feena Khair” campaign illustrates the paternal and humanitarian care of His Majesty the King, and his keenness to ensure the safety of citizens and residents in these exceptional circumstances.
He expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Ministry of Interior, under the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and security agencies in providing support and assistance in the distribution of food
