HM the King ratifies law on volunteering for public security service

The Interior Ministry may now accept volunteers to serve in public security. This is after His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa ratified yesterday and issued law 11/2020 on volunteering to serve public security after it had been approved by the Shura and Representatives councils.

The law stipulates that volunteers will support the public security forces in assuming their duties and responsibilities of safeguarding security and stability, as well as protecting lives, property and the nation’s achievements. Bahrainis or residents, according to certain conditions determined by the Interior Minister, who is at least 21 years old, maybe allowed to volunteer for public security service.

A “Volunteer Affairs Committee” shall be established at the Interior Ministry to be in charge of all public service volunteering procedures. The Interior Minister shall issue the necessary edicts to implement the provisions of this law.

The Prime Minister and ministers, each in their capacity, shall implement this law, which takes effect one day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
