Expat, 53, dies of COVID-19; 327 new active cases

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday the death of a 53-year-old expatriate man, who was a registered active case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) suffering from underlying and chronic health problems.

The patient, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24- hour treatment from a specialised medical team. His passing marked the 15th death from the virus in the Kingdom.

The Health Ministry expressed its heartfelt condolences to the individual’s family at this difficult time. Meanwhile, the Ministry announced 327 new active cases yesterday. Of these, 198 were expatriate workers, 123 were contacts of active cases, and six were travel-related.

Their detection brought the total number of active cases in Bahrain to 4,525. Twenty-nine of the active cases are receiving treatment, of which 10 are in critical condition, the Ministry said. The remaining 4,515 are stable. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry also announced 214 new recoveries, increasing the total to 5,152. The total tested increased to 291,127
