New active COVID-19 cases up by 446; total confirmed cases surpass 12,000

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday 446 new active cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Their detection brought the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom to over 12,000 ever since the first infections were reported. A majority of the new cases were expatriate workers, while others were contacts of active cases or travel-related.
The total number of active cases went to 4,885, of which 48 are receiving treatment with 10 being critical. The remaining 4,875 are stable. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry also announced yesterday that it has recorded 337 additional recoveries from COVID-19.
After confirming that they are free of the virus, the patients were taken out of their dedicated isolation and treatment centres. That increases the total of discharged patients to 7,407. The total tested increased to 330,733, after a total of 7,571 were conducted in the previous 24 hours yesterday.
