Health Ministry: COVID-19 treatment in private sector available at patient’s expense

The Ministry of Health reiterated in a statement last night that the health and safety of citizens and residents is the top priority in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19). Services including examinations, quarantine, and treatment remain free of charge in government quarantine centers, as well as at isolation and treatment centers, for both citizens and residents in the Kingdom.

However, the option is available for those wishing to receive treatment in the private sector, at their own expense, the Health Ministry added. Following the demand of some individuals, the Ministry of Health has allocated three hotels, in coordination with the National Health Regulatory Authority, to receive active cases wishing to receive treatment in these private facilities, under the supervision of a qualified medical staff and according to the guidelines and standards approved by the World Health Organisation.

The statement did not indicate the hotels at which the private treatment is available. The Health Ministry called on everyone to take personal responsibility and adhere to the precautionary measures put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19, stressing the need to continue wearing masks and to practise social distancing, along with other instructions issued by the authorities.
