Two COVID-19 deaths, 471 recoveries in a day

The Ministry of Health announced two new deaths yesterday. The first was of a 46-year-old male expatriate, and later last night, the ministry announced the death of a 34-year-old male expatriate. Both victims were registered active cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) suffering from underlying and chronic health problems.

Both patients, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24hour treatment from a specialised medical team, the Health Ministry said. The Ministry expressed its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families at this difficult time.

Meanwhile, 548 new active cases of the coronavirus were announced yesterday, including 286 expatriate workers, 219 contacts of active cases, and 43 travel-related. Their detection brought the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom to 5,303. Of these, 82 are receiving treatment, with 14 being in critical condition.

The other 5,289 cases are stable. The Health Ministry reported 471 additional recoveries from the virus, increasing the total discharged to 9,056. As of yesterday, 361,376 tests have been conducted in the country.

Saudi Arabia reported 3,121 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 98,869. The total number of recoveries in the kingdom is at 71,791. There are 1,484 cases in intensive care out of 26,402 currently active cases. With 34 new deaths reported, there are 676 total number of deaths.

Kuwait reported 487 new cases, recording an increase in the country’s infection tally to 31,131. Ten more deaths were reported in a day, raising the total such fatalities in the country to 254. With an increase of 930 cases in a day, Oman has recorded 16,016 cases of COVID-19 so far.

UAE reported 626 new cases in a day, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 38,268. Meanwhile, Qatar reported 1,700 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of cases to 67,195. The total number of recovered cases so far in Qatar have risen to 42,527.
